    Abdu Maikaba is the new head coach of Nigeria’s under-20 national team, the Flying Eagles, has vast expertise in Nigerian football. He has spent several years working in Nigerian football, establishing himself as one of the country’s most respected indigenous coaches.

    Abdu Maikaba was born on March 3, 1965, in Nigeria. Maikaba began his coaching career in 2006 with Buffalo FC and has previously served as an assistant manager with Kano Pillars and Enyimba.

    Maikaba has been the head coach of Wikki Tourists since July 2024, and he is still active in the NPFL. Maikaba led Plateau United to the NPFL title in 2019-20, despite the season being cut short due to COVID-19.

    He guided Akwa United to victory in the 2017 AITEO Federation Cup, defeating Niger Tornadoes 3-2 on penalties after a 0-0 tie in the final.

    Maikaba has been chosen as the head coach of Nigeria’s U20 and U17 teams, bringing extensive experience to both roles.

    His recent appointments as head coach of the U20 and U17 teams reflect his commitment to nurturing young players and leading Nigeria’s youth football teams to triumph.

    The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Abdu Maikaba and Eboboritse Uwejamomere as head coaches of the men’s U-20 and U-17 national teams, respectively.

    The appointments are part of a larger reorganization of technical crews across all age groups within national teams.

    The Nigeria Football Federation’s Executive Committee approved the appointments of Abdu Maikaba and Eboboritse Uwejamomere as head coaches of the U-20 and U-17 boys’ national teams, as recommended by the Federation’s Technical and Development Committee.

    He formerly managed the U-17 national team, the Golden Eaglets, and served as an assistant coach for the U-20 team, the Flying Eagles, during Paul Aigbogun’s tenure.

    He is currently the Head of Academy at Sporting Lagos FC, which was recently promoted to the Nigeria Premier Football League. His international experience includes youth development roles with Millwall FC, Gillingham FC, and Nottingham Forest in England.
