Nollywood actor-turned-politician Kenneth Okonkwo has accused the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) and some party leaders in the South-East of allegedly collecting money from aspirants during the party’s recent primary elections.

Okonkwo, a chieftain of ADC, made the allegation during an interview circulating online, claiming that an aspirant from Anambra State contacted him with details of what he described as fraud surrounding the outcome of the primaries.

According to him, the aspirant, identified as Obunike Ohaegbu, contested for the Nnewi North and Nnewi South Federal Constituency seat on the NDC platform.

The politician alleged that aspirants were initially informed that no further payments would be required after purchasing their expression of interest forms.

However, he claimed that House of Representatives aspirants were later asked to pay ₦10 million, while Senate aspirants were allegedly required to pay ₦20 million to secure candidacy.

“The aspirant sent me the receipt of the money. Anyone voting for Peter Obi and the NDC in 2027 is voting for criminality,” he stated.

Okonkwo further alleged that despite making the payments, aspirants were still directed to participate in primaries, while preferred candidates had allegedly already been selected.
